What is the difference between UPF 50+ and UPF 80?
UPF 50+ blocks around 98% of UV rays, UPF 80 around 98.75% — the standard's maximum. Both protect very well; UPF 80 is recommended for very fair skin or long exposure. The level is shown on each suit.
From what age?
Our suits fit children up to 14 years (for 0-24 months, see the Baby category). The second-skin cut does not restrict movement: the child runs, swims and plays normally.
What is the colour-changing zip for?
It has a photochromic UV sensor: pale in the shade, it turns pink then deep purple when UV levels are high. A simple visual cue for when to get your child into the shade.

Why choose a UV-protective wetsuit for children?
Children’s skin is up to three times thinner than that of adults and particularly vulnerable to UV rays. A UPF 50+ or UPF 80 certified UV-protective swimsuit blocks over 98% of harmful rays, offering reliable protection even when wet, unlike sun cream which washes off with water and sweat.
Which children’s UV-protective swimsuit should you choose for the beach?
For the beach, opt for a swimsuit that covers the shoulders and thighs (short or long sleeves depending on the sun). UVEA styles made from UV Extra Inside fabric retain their protection even after 80 washes. Add a UV-protective hat and apply sun cream to uncovered areas for complete protection.
What is the difference between UPF 50+ and UPF 80?
The UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) measures the proportion of UV rays blocked by the fabric. UPF 50+ means that less than 2% of UV rays pass through the fabric. UPF 80, certified to UV Standard 801, offers even higher protection, tested under the most demanding conditions (wet, stretched and worn fabric).
Short or long wetsuit: which one to choose?
The short version (short sleeves, mid-thigh length) is ideal for very hot days and water-based activities. The long version (long sleeves, below-the-knee length) is suitable for prolonged exposure, snorkelling and very sensitive skin. Both offer the same UPF rating.
Is a UV-protective wetsuit suitable for the swimming pool?
Yes. UVEA swimsuits are designed for use in swimming pools and the sea. The fabric is resistant to chlorine and salt, dries quickly and retains its elasticity. They are accepted at most municipal swimming pools in France.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure your child (chest, waist and hips) and consult the UVEA size guide available on each product page. If you’re unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one: the stretchy fabric will fit perfectly. For babies in nappies, go for the next size up.
Why does the zip change colour in the sun?
All UVEA wetsuits are fitted with a photochromic zip that changes colour when exposed to UV light. This patented system allows you to check at a glance whether your child is exposed to the sun and whether protection is needed. It’s also a fun feature that children love.
