Sunscreen is a time-consuming ritual. It’s hard to apply, washes off in the water, stains light-coloured swimwear and ends up in the sea, where it bleaches the coral. At UVEA, we’ve turned the logic on its head: the protection is built right into the fabric.
Our garments are UPF 80 certified to the German UV Standard 801 — tested when wet, stretched, and after 80 washes. We work with recycled Italian fabrics, manufacture to order in Europe, and design every pattern in Roubaix. A swimsuit that protects all day long and lasts for seasons on end.

Key points before buying
Should the UV-protective swimsuit be worn over a swimsuit or instead of one?
It’s a swimsuit in its own right. Our ICONIC, ESSENTIAL and COMFORT wetsuits replace the classic swimsuit: a slim fit, extra-flat flatlock seams, and Italian fabric that doesn’t stretch out when wet. They can be worn directly for surfing, swimming, paddleboarding or spending the day by the water.
Does the protection hold up against chlorine and salt?
Yes. Our Italian fabrics are designed to withstand chlorine and sea salt. The UPF 80 protection remains effective after 80 washes — in practical terms, several seasons of intensive use. A simple rinse with fresh water after swimming is enough to preserve the fabric and colours.
Do I still need to use sun cream?
Only on areas that remain exposed — face, neck, hands, feet. We recommend a mineral-based cream (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide), free from endocrine disruptors and non-toxic to corals. Clothing covers around 85% of the body; the cream is now only used as an occasional supplement.
