The essentials before you buy
Anti-UV T-shirt or cotton T-shirt — what is the difference?
A dry cotton T-shirt offers a UPF of around 5 to 7 — and far less once wet. Our anti-UV T-shirts are certified UPF 80: they block 98.75% of UV rays, wet or dry, and dry within minutes.
Short sleeve or long sleeve?
Long sleeves cover the arms — highly exposed when paddling, kayaking or surfing — the most protective choice. Short sleeves suit swimming and the beach. Every print comes in both lengths.
Can the T-shirt be worn in the water?
Yes, that is its primary purpose. Italian fabric resistant to chlorine and salt that does not lose its shape when wet. A rinse in fresh water after use is all it needs.

Our entire range of men’s rashguards is UPF 80 (SHIRO fabric certified to UV Standard 801). 99% of UV rays are blocked, even when the fabric is wet, stretched, or after 80 washes. This is the highest level of protection on the market — recommended for prolonged sports in the sun and in tropical climates.
A photochromic zip that changes colour in the sun
All our long-sleeved rashguards feature a photochromic zip that changes from pale pink to dark purple as UV levels rise. A technical detail unique to UVEA — a direct visual indicator that is both useful and distinctive.

Is it suitable for surfing?
Yes. A close-fitting cut that doesn’t ride up when paddling, Italian fabric that withstands the friction of the board, and quick-drying between sessions. Many French surfers wear our rashguards instead of a neoprene wetsuit in warm waters.
Is it resistant to salt water and chlorine?
Yes. The Italian technical fabric is designed for use in the sea and the pool. Rinsing with fresh water after each session will extend the garment’s lifespan.
What is the difference between UPF 50+ and UPF 80?
UPF 50+ blocks over 97% of UV rays. UPF 80 (SHIRO fabric, UV Standard 801 certified) blocks up to 99% — tested on wet, stretched fabric after 80 washes. Our entire range of men’s rashguards is UPF 80.
How should it be cared for?
Wash at 30°C, do not tumble dry, do not bleach, do not iron directly. Rinse with fresh water after each use.
